Jan Levine: Rangers Re-Sign Eminger
Depth d-man returns to the fold and how that signing was impacted by Erixon, MDZ and Sauer...

Good depth signing

right handed shot, knows that he is a 6th or 7th defenseman on this blueline at best.

Best thing about Eminger is that he can go twenty games without playing, get in the lineup and play well.

Team is set, just gotta get MDZ signed. Oh, and actually play this season.

Also, don't discount notion of #NYR signing Steve Eminger as pressure for Michael Del Zotto to "come to his senses."

I am sure Sather will once again do much better than expectations on Del Zotto's RFA contract.

I am also getting real damn annoyed with CBA negotiations. I fully know that nothing will get done until it has to, but I wish I didn't love the product so much that I could actually boycott it and stick to it (which I know that I can't, especially this year). If I wish I could strike the lottery and hire a few thousand NHL fans to boycott the product for me.

Doesn't seem like too much leverage to me. Hey, look Michael, we signed Steve Eminger. You best be scared, son!

I feel a bit better about the right side now. If Bickel struggles at least we have a viable option with NHL experience to slot into that spot. I remember last season we were grabbing Woywitka and Stralman off the scrap heap to plug holes so let's hope two things: One we don't have so many injuries on the back end and two, we have enough depth to survive the season back there.

There isn't anything to boycott on the Rangers end.

They don't want a lockout, whatever the CBA ultimately ends up being, the Rangers will always spend as much as possible.

Rangers fans need to understand that the league is being held hostage by Bettman and some small market owners.

I fully understand it's not the Rangers that are driving this thing. I'll still makes me angry that some have the stones to have three work stoppages in an 18 year period, and are not even afraid of the consequences. Just really wish there was away that the fans could express their displeasure -- boycott team gear and concessions, et. Anything!

Edit: Or start a fundraising campaign. "For the price of your daily cup of coffee, you can pay for a current season ticket holder to boycott the Coyotes."

Recent actions by the PA further indicate Fehr's intention to win this mess in court should it come to that. They have filed suit in Calgary to stop a lockout vote by Calgary and Edmonton owners, and the Canadiens players filed suit in Qubec, stating the province does not reconize the NHLPA as a union. Ergo you cannot lockout non-union employees. Of course if they win it would cripple an owners driven lockout. This is all Don Fehr setting up the owners for an unfair labor practice suit down the road.

I'm going to be depressed if there is no hockey... Even if we miss some games, and it's not a full season I'm going to be pissed. Imagine if we win an "abbreviated" season with our awesome lineup? Forever we'll have an asterisk next to the cup win!

Guess it was a good time that I finally found a chick who digs me... She may not be totally neglected to the Rangers when hockey starts.

The re-signing of Eminger is a solid move as he knows the system and only costs the Rangers $750k for 1 year. Also, I expect MDZ to come to his senses and sign the contract before Sept 15. If not, then this could be a very interesting story moving forwards. I will be bold here and go on record to say that Bickel will have a very solid camp and season (if and when it starts) for the Rangers. The Kid seems very focus based on all the articles I've read and he alot to prove to Torts and mostly to himself. He's only 24 years old, so there is room for improvement and I think he will improve. Final note, If Sauer sits out the season again, the Rangers will have a tough decision to make as Sauer is a UFA next summer. Do the Rangers gamble and sign him to a 1 year deal or do they give up on him and let him walk? Pretty sure that final decision will be determined by the team doctors evaluation on Sauer moving forward. If the doctors feel he's close; they re-sign him. If the doctors feel he's not close at all, the Rangers could let him go.
